Founder, David H. Obelcz:
  Mr. Obelcz is a 34 year old native of central Massachusetts.   Growing up with hiking trails in his backyard, and close to the mountains

His love for the outdoors brought him to the United States Air Force Auxiliary where he held the rank of Senior Flight Officer and was a member of the Quinsigamond Composite Squadron (19007).  While with the USAFAux he earned his Permanent 101 card which qualified him for search and rescue missions.  Among other certifications he David H. Obelcz, President, OutdoorPlaces.Comheld his Emergency Medical Technical and radio communications certifications.  Mr. Obelcz participated in countless training exercises, was a winter survival instructor for the New Hampshire Wing CAP, and served in nine actual search and rescue missions over a six year period.  During his tenure with USAFAux he earned a Commanders Commendation, was honor with the Air Force Association Award For Aerospace Education Excellence in 1985, and garnered three Unit Citations.

Moving to Texas in 1991, Mr. Obelcz pursued career for eight years working as an independent consultant for Conoco, Coca-Cola Foods, Prudential Insurance, Shell Oil.  He then spent four years working for Compaq Computer Corporation as their ISV Third Party Vendor Relations Specialist.

In 1998 Mr. Obelcz moved to the Siouxland region of South Dakota.  Realizing how much he missed the outdoors, Mr. Obelcz once again threw himself into the sports he loves so much - OutdoorPlaces.Com was born.  Recognizing that the business would not be able to grow in such a remote location, Mr. Obelcz relocated with the company to Seattle, Washington in February of 2000.

New Owner - August 2004

Michael Thiessen internationally known Astrologer, author of the now famous web site Astrology Online purchased outdoorplaces.com in the summer of 2004. Other then astrology, Michael is also an outdoor enthusiast.
