Ranger Led Activities, South Rim

 

 
There is a lot more to see and do at Grand Canyon National Park then hike, camp, and go sightseeing.  A wide number of ranger led activities and other programs like horseback and mule rides await.  If you start digging into everything there is to do at the Grand Canyon, you will soon discover you could spend the rest of your life there, and not have seen every last corner.

Glimpses Of The Past, Sunday through Saturday at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 2:30 PM, and 4:00 PM:  Consider how the American Indians lived in this harsh environment 800 years ago.  This short 1/10 of a mile walk leads to a pueblo ruin.  Allow 45 minutes to complete this program.  One quart of water is recommended for this program.  Meet at the Tusayan Museum.

Legends Of The Canyon, Sunday through Saturday at 11:30 AM:  Learn about the history of man within the Grand Canyon.  From the earliest Native American peoples, to the Spaniards and explorers, to visitors like yourself.  This 30 minute program is conducted at the Tusayan Museum.

The Spirit Of Sunset, Sunday through Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday, 60 minutes before sunset, program runs from June to August ONLY:  Come watch the ever changing colors of the Canyon during on of it's world famous sunsets.  Wear warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and bring a quart of water for the 1/2 mile walk.  Allow at least 40 minutes to complete this program.  Meet at the Desert View Point.

Sunset Through Your Lens, Wednesday, 90 minutes before sunset, program runs from late-June to mid-August:  Come learn how to capture the Grand Canyon sunset through your camera.  A professional Kodak photographer is your guide who will help you preserve your memories of the Canyon.  Bring your camera, extra film, and spare batteries, wear warm clothing, sturdy shoes, and bring a quart of water for this 1/2 mile walk.  Allow at least 1-1/4 hour to complete this program.  Meet at the Desert View Point.
