Boone Trail - Blue Blaze, 6 mile loop, moderate difficulty: This trail goes
through a number of features in French Creek State Park. Hopewell
Lake, the primitive group camping area, the main campground, and through
a connector trail Hopewell Furnace National Historical Site are all
accessed on this trail. Some sections are rocky so good hiking
shoes are needed. The section around Hopewell Lake is closed to
mountain bikes.
Turtle Trail - White Blaze, 3.6 mile loop (must take the
Boone Trail or Horse-shoe Trail to access, moderate difficulty:
Circling around the western section of the park, the Turtle Trail
gradually climbs when taking the western loop with several steep
sections. On your return leg you will be amazed by how long you
continue to climb down in altitude. Accessible to mountain bikes
and horseback, the trail is relatively clean.
Lenape Trail - Green Blaze, 5.5 mile loop, moderate
difficulty: Like the Boone Trail, the Lenape Trail starts at
Hopewell Lake and twists and turns through a variety of features of the
park. Almost half of the trail goes through Hopewell Furnace
National Historical Site. Although this trail also goes to the
main campground, the Lenape Trail goes to Scotts Run Lake to the south,
where the Boone Trail skirts around the lake to the north.
Accessible to mountain bikes but not on horseback.
Six Penny
Trail - Orange Blaze, 3 mile loop, moderate difficulty: This
trail is accessed from a gravel road leading north out of the main
campground. You can use the connector trail (Orange and Green
Blaze) also to access this trail. Cuts through the northern
section of the park and runs along Six Penny Creek. This trail is
only accessible to hikers.
